Using Sections

How to use sections

A section is a reusable group of fields that you can add to forms to save time and maintain consistency. For example, if you often collect employee information like address, start date, and payroll details, you can create a section with those fields and reuse it across multiple forms—without having to recreate the same fields each time.

Sections cannot be used on basic forms.

Use the Section Designer to build and save a section. Once created, it will be available to add to a form.

  1. From the Reusable Components menu, select Sections, then New Section. The Section Designer opens.
  2. Enter a name for the section you are creating. Use a descriptive name that can help identify the section when adding to a form. For example, Employee Information might be a good name for a section that contains details about an employee.
  3. Add input types to the section. Sections can contain any input type, except page breaks, and can contain or be in conditional fields. Any style options you set here are used as a default on the form. They can be changed on a per-form basis.
  4. Click (Preview) to open a Preview window with a display very similar to how the section will appear on a form. If your section contains hidden fields, you can toggle the Show Hidden Fields option on to display the fields that are hidden. This is helpful if you have fields that are populated from somewhere else, such as a data set. For example, you could "test" the hidden fields to ensure your section and its fields are working as expected. In the following illustration the Social Security Number field is a hidden field but displays in the Preview window because this toggle is on.

You can change the preview type to show how the section will look on a tablet or a phone. You can also type or select entries to check calculated fields or to be sure you have the appropriate input type for each entry.
  5. Click (Copy) to copy the section.
  6. Click (Apply Changes) to select the form(s) you want to apply the section changes to.
  7. Click (Delete) to delete the section.
  8. Click (Save) when you’ve completed the section. The section is now ready to be added to a form.
