How to use photo options

Use the Photo Options section to customize how images are captured, saved, and attached.

Photo options include:

• Allow Camera: Let users take a photo using their device's camera.
• Allow Gallery: Let users select images from their device’s photo gallery.
• Capture GPS on Photo: Include the GPS coordinates of the person taking the photo.
• Capture Date/Time on Photo: Include the date and time the photo was taken. Specify where you want the GPS and date/time information placed on the image. If the same placement is selected for both options, the GPS information will be above the date/time. Specify the attachment options and the connection for storing the attachments. 
  Note: Technicians will be prompted to turn on their device locations if they are not already turned on. If there are connection issues or other technical problems, “Location not found” is printed on the image.
  The GPS coordinates and date/time is saved separately from images when the Capture GPS on Photo and/or Capture Date/Time on Photo options are marked. This enables this information to be used on reports and accessed for data maps and form actions.
• Maximum File Size: Specify the maximum file size for images. If an image is larger than the maximum file size it is deleted.
• Default Caption: Default a caption for the image. Then enter a caption in the Default Caption field.
• Exclude this media on email: If you do not want to include the attachment file on an email. This is useful when you don’t want to send the file to an end customer, or you know the attachments are too large for email, such as long videos. If you leave this option unmarked, the file attachments will be sent as attachments on the email, which is useful for customer-facing attachments, or when an email is sent internally to someone who may not have access to the storage location. When files exceed the limit set on email servers, no files are sent.
• Connection for Storing Attachments: Select the attachment connection to use for storing the attachments.
• File Name: Name the attachments to identify the file in the connection folder. If the file name contains characters that are not acceptable by the storage solution, the unacceptable characters are replaced with an underscore. You can enter the form name if you want it to be part of the file name. If this field is left blank, the file name that exists is used. The extension of the file is maintained, regardless of the file name.

  Note: If no attachment data connection is set up, fields and options related to anything other than a photo are disabled.

• Append file name to exiting file name: Use an attachment’s existing file name as part of the new name.
