Using Field Type Options in the Format Data Set Data Window

How to use the field type options in the Format Data Set Data window

In the Format Data Set Data window, the Type field controls how each column behaves in your form. It determines what kind of input users can interact with—making sure they enter the right kind of data.

For example, a column can act like a:

  • Checkbox

  • Date picker

  • Lookup

  • Long Text field

  • Number input

  • Radio button group

  • Segmented button

  • Select dropdown

  • Text field

  • Time picker

  • Toggle switch

These settings can’t be edited while you're designing the form. If you need to change a field type, return to the Format Data Set Data window, make your changes, and then update your form to match.

We recommend testing your data set on a test form first, before using it in a live or published form.

Depending on the type you select, the available options will vary. For more details about the options available for each type, refer to the corresponding knowledge article.
