Adding a Time Span Field to a Form

How to add a Time Span field to a form

Use a Time Span field to calculate the hours between two-time fields on a form. Once calculated, a time span field works like any other number field and can be used in other calculated fields. Time spans always display 2 decimal places. Time span fields help analyze time-sensitive data, such as calculating response and resolution time spent when troubleshooting a service call.

  1. From the Actions/Container menu in the Form Designer, click the Time Span Field input.
  2. The time span field is added to the form.
  3. Click on it to view the Time Span Field input slider.
  4. In the Label field, enter a label for the time span field.
  5. Expand Input Options.
  6. Using the Time Between and And fields, select the starting time and ending time fields.
  7. Specify how you want the time span rounded. Options include None, Always Up, Always Down, and Standard.

*Standard rounding uses the halfway point for the Round to Nearest selection to determine rounding up or down. Exactly half will round up.

NOTE: Timesheets for hourly employees in the U.S. have regulations for how time is rounded. If you are using a time span field for calculating hourly time, please be aware of the regulations when selecting your rounding options.

  8. Expand Formatting Rules. For more information, see Adding Formatting Rules to Number Fields.
  9. Expand Styles to specify the style settings for the time span field. See Applying a Style to an Input for more information.
  10. Expand Validations to create a validation for the time span field. See Creating Field Level Validations for more information.
  11. Expand Field Condition to create a condition for the time span field. See Adding a Field Condition for more information.
