How to add a spacer to a form
Use a Spacer to insert blank space between fields on a form, helping prevent them from wrapping to the next line. Spacers improve form layout and readability, but they do not collect or display data—they serve solely as design elements and improve the overall readability of the form across different devices.
For example, when placing two input fields side by side, limited screen space or lack of spacing may cause one to shift to the next line. A spacer provides controlled spacing to maintain the intended layout.
- From the Formatting menu in the Form Designer, click Spacer.
- The Spacer is added to the form. Click on it to view the Spacer input slider.
- Select the column span size for the spacer: 1, 2, 3, or 4.
- Click
(Save) to save the changes.
- Click
(Preview) to see how the form will appear in the app. Use the Preview Type to switch between phone, tablet, and desktop views.
For example, even if you designed the form for phone users, some may access it on a tablet. As shown in the following illustrations, a spacer placed after the Employee Name field appears differently on each device. You might need to adjust the spacer/layout to make sure everything displays correctly across all screen sizes.
