Using the Null Value Text Setting in the Report Designer

How to use the Null Value Text Setting in the Report Designer

The Null Value Text setting lets you display a default message or placeholder when a field in your data is blank (null). This is useful when you want your report to show something like “N/A” or “Not provided” instead of leaving the space empty. To set up a report to automatically print a value when a field is left blank on a form, complete the following steps:

  1. In the Report Designer click on the input's form answer, then expand the Data properties menu.
  2. In the Null Value Text field enter the value (such as N/A) you want to print on the report when the field is left blank on the form.
  3. Save the report.
  4. When the form is submitted the value entered in the Null Value Field will print on the report.
