Creating Your First Form

How to get started building your first form in FormsPro

This procedure takes you through the steps to build your first form. It is a simple form, with nothing too fancy so that you can get acquainted with the different elements of the form.

  1. From the Form and Report Designer, click + New Form in the top left corner.
  2. The Form Designer opens.
  3. From the Folder list, choose a folder to save the form to. If you don’t want to keep it in a folder, choose “None”. You can always use this list to change the folder to which a form is saved.
  4. In the form header area, you can add your logo to the form. Click on the Logo box. The Logo Upload window opens.
  5. Drag and drop a file or click Choose a file and browse to the logo file.
  6. Enter a name and description to identify the form. This information identifies the form in the Forms list in the Admin site and in the app.
From the Description field, you can select any field on the form to add to the description. The data for that field appears on submitted and saved forms in the mobile app to help identify the form.
  7. Add items to your form from the inputs, containers, etc. on the right side of the Form Designer. You can either click on the item or drag and drop the item onto your form.
  8. Once a field is on a form, you can edit it by clicking on the input. For example, let's make some changes to the Heading field. Click on the Heading input to open it's input slider. Enter a label name for the heading, such as "First Form Information."
  9. Expand Style. Select Large from the Label Size drop-down list. Click the B (bold) and the I (italic). Then click and select blue. Then toggle on Use Color as Background
  10. Notice how the changes you made in the Edit Header window appear in the Form Designer:
  11. Edit the rest of the fields on the form, as you want.
  12. Save your changes made to the form by clicking (Save) in the top right corner of the Form Designer's toolbar.
  13. As you build a form, you can see how it looks by clicking (Preview) on the toolbar.
  14. A form is not visible on the app until it is published. To publish a form, click (Publish)  click (Save).
  15. Now you need to assign a role to the form. Users will not see published forms unless they are assigned a role that matches one of the roles assigned to the form. Click (Access), then Roles on the toolbar to open the Assign Roles window.
  16. Mark the role you want to assign to the form, then click Save
  17. This form is now available to complete on a device.
