How to add color formatting to number fields
Rules can be added to color format the data entered in the app to Number fields (including calculations and numbers in tables). For example, if a temperature reading exceeded 80 degrees or was under 32 degrees, you can select an operator to color the field red for over 80 and blue for under 32 when the user enters the reading on the app.
- To add formatting rules, click Edit on the numeric field you’ve added to the form, and click Add under Formatting rules.
- Select an Operator and the Value. Using the temperature reading example, the operator would be greater than or equal to and enter 80 as the value. Click Add again to add the rule for the other temperature reading. The operator would be less than or equal to and the value would be 32.
- Click the palette to select a color for each temperature reading. Then, select the tone of the color you want to use. The color boxes show the color of the field, and the color the text will be if you use that color. After you select the color, the palette button will change to the background and text color you selected for easy reference.
- Click OK to close the Edit Number window.
- Click Preview to see how this will look in the app. The field turns red when entering a temperature of 80 degrees or higher and the field is blue when entering a temperature of 32 degrees or lower.
